Entity & event URIs

URI patterns in the PSGC change-history RDF: psgc:entity/{code}, psgc:event/{date}/{seq}, and psgc:concept/{scheme}/{value}.

Author

Manuel Balmeo

The RDF graph uses three URI patterns under the psgc: namespace.

URI patterns

psgc:entity/{code}              — entity URI
psgc:event/{date}/{seq}         — change event URI (seq = 0001, 0002, ...)
psgc:concept/{scheme}/{value} — concept URI (for levels, classes, etc.)
  • psgc:entity/{code} — one per Philippine administrative unit, keyed by its 10-digit PSGC code (see PSGC code structure). Identity across code changes is tracked by the 9-digit correspondence code, not by this URI.

  • psgc:event/{date}/{seq} — one per detected change in a snapshot’s delta; the {seq} suffix (0001, 0002, …) disambiguates multiple events on the same date.

  • psgc:concept/{scheme}/{value} — concept URIs for levels (region/province/…/barangay), city classes (HUC/ICC/component), and other controlled vocabularies.

Worked examples

Pulled verbatim from 2023-10-24/delta.ttl.

Entity URI. A barangay that was created in this snapshot — note both the 10-digit PSGC code and the 9-digit correspondence code on org:identifier, the name on skos:prefLabel, and its level (Bgy) plus urban/rural classification as org:classification concepts:

<https://psgc.gov.ph/entity/1381500036> a org:OrganizationalUnit ;
    dct:date "2023-10-24"^^xsd:date ;
    schema1:population 15103 ;
    skos:prefLabel "Rizal"@en ;
    org:classification <https://psgc.gov.ph/concept/geographic-level/Bgy>,
        <https://psgc.gov.ph/concept/urban-rural/U> ;
    org:identifier "137602033"^^xsd:string,
        "1381500036"^^xsd:string,
        "137602033"^^psgc:correspondence-code .

Creation event URI. A creation carries only the resulting organization:

<https://psgc.gov.ph/event/2023-10-24/0000> a org:ChangeEvent ;
    dct:date "2023-10-24"^^xsd:date ;
    dct:description "Aniban 1 (Bgy) created"@en ;
    org:classification <https://psgc.gov.ph/concept/change-type/creation> ;
    org:resultingOrganization <https://psgc.gov.ph/entity/0402103076> .

Code-change event URI. A re-coding carries both the original and the resulting entity, so a consumer can follow the identity from old code to new:

<https://psgc.gov.ph/event/2023-10-24/0082> a org:ChangeEvent ;
    dct:date "2023-10-24"^^xsd:date ;
    dct:description "PSGC code changed from 1380300033 to 1381500036"@en ;
    org:classification <https://psgc.gov.ph/concept/change-type/code_change> ;
    org:originalOrganization <https://psgc.gov.ph/entity/1380300033> ;
    org:resultingOrganization <https://psgc.gov.ph/entity/1381500036> .

Transfer / source provenance. There are no PROV-O triples in the committed deltas linking events to their PSA press release — the builder supports dct:source (legal basis) and prov:generatedAtTime (effective date) but the source data does not populate them. Until that gap closes, trace an event to its snapshot by the dct:date and the date embedded in the event URI (/event/2023-10-24/...). See Change-event types › Known limitations.
